NEFERTITI'S DAUGHTERS

[Acrylic on Canvas, 16" X 20"]

The images of Nefertiti's daughters have been a

recurring symbol used by some contemporary

Egyptian artists, as a metaphor to represent

social and economic challenges that women in

Egypt have traditionally faced.

Within grand halls, a gentle grace,

Six royal daughters, a mother’s face.

No regal air, but humble hearts,

With love of Egypt, in all its parts.

The Nile's rich flow turns spirits bright.

The sun’s warm rays, their guiding light.

Their father's pride, with faith above.

Their mother's beauty, a pulse of love.

For Egypt's women, strong and true,

Nefertiti’s daughters, a symbol new.

Impassioned souls, forever bold,

Their story now is better told.

TWO SEAGULLS

Upon a canvas, skies so wide,

Where quiet clouds in motion glide,

A blue horizon, soft and deep,

Where ocean waves their secrets keep.

A gentle breeze begins to blow,

Across the waters, to and fro.

Two seagulls soar (a graceful sight),

A pulse of love from birds in flight.

A tranquil scene, serene and free,

A gift of peace, eternally.

WHISKERS

His whiskers are long and thin,

He has a furry beard for a chin.

A happy lion with a loving pride,

A jungle king who need not hide.

He moves along with gentle grace,

A smile of joy across his face.

His purring growl was heard,

Some wildlife creatures stirred.

Today this golden king is at his best,

A lucky lion who is truly blessed.

NEAR CHILLIWACK

Near Chilliwack, where eagles reign,

Are rugged peaks, a wild domain.

The Northern Cascades, snow-capped high,

Beneath a vast and open sky.

Hidden valleys their secrets keep,

Where silent, ancient spirits sleep.

White-tipped summits pierce the blue,

While nature's grandeur shines anew.

Two eagles ascend, a rising might,

So pure and strong, with dreams in flight.

A burst of joy, so high and bold,

A pulse of love, a story's told.

Near Chilliwack, where eagles soar,

My peace of mind, forevermore.

DREAMS OF POETRY

Blissful tears trickle into rich gems,

As every ruby pulse of love

Flickers from lofty crystals inspiring dreams.

O pearls of fancy high above,

Would there were human glory clustered

With diamond grace and hearts lily-lustred.

Would there were a shimmering peace on earth,

With glittering gold and emerald mirth.

Would there were robes of wealthy might,

As nature's jewel-necklaced night.

Ah, then would dreams of poetry

Descend to earth's reality.

A HAPPY PHOENIX

Arise dear Phoenix and greet the morrow,

Your pain and suffering have been endured.

From fiery rebirth in ash and sorrow

Your vibrant future is now secured.

Avert the shadows and all the tears,

Celebrate the dawn and sing your tune.

Spread your wings and have no fears,

Your golden feathers are firmly hewn.

Be a happy Phoenix and to all a friend,

Your joyful journey will never end.

AN ARTIST'S DREAM

A splash of red, a touch of blue,

A yellow streak shining through.

No object seen, no form to find,

Just pure sensation for the mind.

A canvas space with blazing light,

Magenta, crimson, shining bright.

A pulse of love where hues all blend,

A symphony of colours from end to end.

A visual dance of strokes so free,

An artists dream for all to see.

ENGLISH BAY

English Bay shimmers where sky meets sea,

A canvas of colours so bright and so free.

Skyscrapers soar with elegant grace,

Vancouver beckons for all to embrace.

As twilight descends, the skyline ignites,

A fiery sunset bathes the Bay in its lights.

A dance of reflections, a dazzling sight,

Filling my heart with pure delight.

A pulse of love rolls in with the tide,

Leaving me joyful, and truly beguiled.

With tranquil enchantment and a breeze on my face,

With beauty unbounded, there's no better place.

WINDSTORM

We occasionally experience atmospheric rivers

and windstorms in the Fraser Valley, British

Columbia. This abstract painting captures

this experience in vivid colours.

COLOUR MAGIC

In this painting, contrasting and harmonious

colours, in various shapes, seem to be

magically suspended in mid-air, and

yet balanced and with structure.

BLUE SKY CITYSCAPE

Look closely and spot the fountain, two dogs,

angel wings, and much more. All are part of this

cityscape, abstracted and enhanced from

one of my acrylic sketches.

SEA URCHINS

This is an abstract representation of a spiked

undersea environment, with urchins arising from

the darkness of the deep sea. This is another

digitally enhanced image from one of my

acrylic sketches.

CONFETTI

BLAZING COLOURS

This is a kaleidoscopic display of colours,

and the theme of one of my art shows

[a solo show at the Chilliwack Cultural

Centre Gallery, 2022].

BRUSHFIRE

An abstract representation of the unpredictable

brushfires that occur in areas of combustible

vegetation, especially during draughts.

TOTEM

Look closely at the totem pole -- in the centre.

Various creatures pop-up. The feathers on

either side means they are all airborne.

WAR WEARY

The red splatters in this image represent the

blood of the innocent victims of war.

The imbedded figures are the demons.

THE DEVIL'S GARDEN

The devil's vast, sinister, and fiery domain

is depicted in this horrific digital image.

This is an ant's point of view, only experienced

by humans through artistic expression.

GLOBAL WARMING

The green and blue rectangles are planet Earth at it's

best. The red and orange represent "global warming".

DRAMA

This kaleidoscopic acrylic painting, with a dramatic and

chaotic juxtaposition of colours, nonetheless maintains

a sense of structure and balance.

PRIMAVERA

Spring is sprung in this colourful acrylic painting.

The curvy lines, bright colours, and plant-like brush

and knife strokes, evoke a Spring-like sensation.

ICE PALACE

The reflections in this image provide some

sense of depth, and, with the blue motif,

seems to enhance a sense of coldness.
